A "White Revolution" in Turkish Political Life 1950 Elections

1950 Elections may be viewed, in a sense, as a turning point for the transition of democracy in Turkish political life. Newly legislated election law was recorded in our history as a legal arrangement by which free elections was organized for the first time. Quality of the Election Law as well as the careful approaches of the two largest political parties eased "the transition for the democracy". The aim of this study was to review the political environment toward 1950 Election. In the first part, the ruling and the opposition party relations were summarized. In the second part, the political developments, that took place in Turkish political life, before and after elections were discussed.
