This paper aimed to define what "Independence Medal" is and its purposes by explaining its characteristics as well as why it was given to those who joined the Turkish National Struggle. In this respect, this study found out that 449 people from Kars joined the Turkish National Struggle between 15 May 1919 and 9 September 1922 and obtained "Independence Medal". After that, the paper made the statistical analysis according to their birth places and local military branches. However, Kars local military branch documents were taken into consideration mainly. Thus, the paper examined the contribution of Kars, along, with the struggle of the people of Kars throughout the Turkish National Struggle, acceding to these documents.
