The mutually exchanging of the Greek in Turkey and Turkish in Greece was discussed at Lausanne Peace Conference, and the problem was formulated and solved in a way by signing "The agreement and protocol concerning the mutually exchanging of Turkish and Greek population" on 30 th January, 1923. However, the problem was not ending but starting. According to this signed agreement and protocol, it was estimated that over five hundred thousand Muslims would be affected. The new Turkish State, which had just ended the war and whose national existence and independence were accepted in Lausanne was not ready for such a great migration movement. Because everywhere in the east and west of the country was ruined. During the National Struggle years, most of the settlement areas were burnt and destroyed and the whole country became a ruin. Many articles and news on the emigrants who would migrate to Turkey as a mutually exchanging plan were issued in the press then. These kinds of articles and news increased when the emigrants began to arrive in Turkey. These articles about the emigrants in the press caused a great excitement in the public opinion, and the press became the mediator to reflect this excitement. An intensive sentimentality stood out especially in the news and articles issued in the newspapers. The nation was asked to help the emigrants through the sentimental messages used in the news and articles on the emigrants. The newspapers were closely interested in the aid campaigns initiated by the public opinion and even some newspapers contributed to these campaigns. The newspapers caused people to take part in the aid campaigns for the emigrants greatly issuing sentimental news and articles.
