Kilis is a border city located at the junction of Southeastern Anatolia and the Mediterranean, and located at the zero point of the Syrian border. Before the Syrian migration, this small cute Anatolian city was a city with a unique demographic structure, consisting of Turkmen and Sunni populations closed to different cultures. However, refugees who took refuge in Turkey due to the civil war in Syria mainly passed through the Kilis Öncüpınar Border Gate and took refuge in various cities of Anatolia. However, the only difference that distinguishes Kilis from other Anatolian cities is that it hosts more refugees than its own population. In this city, students whose mother tongue are Arabic from primary school to university and later learn Turkish can be considered bilingual. While these students were studying in schools that were opened for them at first, today they are studying in the same classrooms as the Turkish population. In this case, especially in some schools, half and sometimes more than half of the class consist of refugees and the rest is Turkish students. Although there are some difficulties in communication due to the fact that students who speak different languages receive education in the same class, these problems usually leave their place to bilingual people after a while. These people are likely to come across as exemplary people who can speak both languages fluently, are open to different cultures and have adopted them.
