Mistisizmin Bağlamsalcı Okuması I: Steven T. Katz’ın Mistik Tecrübeye İlişkin Düşünceleri

Öz Mistik tecrübe, aktarıldığı kaynakların anlaşılmasının ve tecrübeye ulaşmak için takip edilen yöntemlerin zorluğuna ve çeşitli yıkıcı eleştirilere rağmen, bugün hala cazibesini koruyan nadir konular arasındadır. Bu bakımdan çağdaş tartışmalarda mistik tecrübeyi açıklamayı amaç edinen pek çok araştırmaya rastlanmaktadır. Bunlar arasında bulunan S. T. Katz’ın öncülüğündeki bağlamsalcılık, mistisizmi Kantçı bir ruhla Wittgenstein sonrası felsefi gelişmeler ışığında ele alır. Bağlamsalcı yaklaşımda daha önce James, Underhill, Zaehner, Otto, Stace gibi düşünürlerin mistik tecrübenin saf, evrensel, dolaysız, ortak bir tecrübe türü olduğu iddiası reddedilir ve dikkatler bağlam ve tecrübe arasındaki ilişkiye çekilir. Bağlam-tecrübe, bağlam-metin ve bağlam-dil arasındaki ilişki, farklı yönleriyle ele alınarak tecrübenin söz konusu unsurlardan bağımsız olmadığı gösterilir. Böylece mistik tecrübe ortaya çıktığı geleneğin bir ürününe dönüşür; Hint mistik tecrübesi, Budist mistik tecrübesi, Yahudi, Hristiyan ve Müslüman mistik tecrübesi gibi kendi bağlamlarında anlamlı tecrübelere karşılık gelir. Eldeki bu çalışma, henüz ülkemizdeki tartışmalarda yeni yeni yer alan bağlamsalcılığın tanıtımı amaç edinen iki yazıdan ilkidir. Bu amaçla burada öncelikle Katz’ın görüşleri çerçevesinde bağlamsalcılığın dayanağı olan “saf tecrübe yoktur” öncülüne yer verilecek, ardından bu öncülün mistik tecrübeye uygulanmasına geçilecektir. Daha sonra bağlamın mistik tecrübeye etkisi tecrübeyi önceleyen teori üzerinden ele alınacaktır. Bunun devamı olması planlanan ikinci çalışmada ise tecrübe esnası ve sonrası sürece odaklanılacaktır. Böylece mistisizmin, bağlamsalcılığın gündeme getirdiği sorular dikkate alınarak daha derinlemesine çalışılabilmesi olanaklı olacaktır.
