Neurogenic pulmonary edema after gunshot ınjury

Neurogenic pulmonary edema (NPE) is a clinical condition that occurs after any disease affecting the central nervous system. It is rarely seen in childhood. Here, we report, an 12 years-old male patient, who was developed the NPE after gunshot injury because children who developed NPE after gunshot injury in the literature are very few. NPE is a clinical diagnosis. Pediatricians, who encounter with the head trauma, should come into mind the NPE that these patients are developed unexplained respiratuar distress, tachypnea, hypoxia after penetran or blunt head trauma.
