Bilim merkezleri bilim ve teknolojinin toplumda popülerleştirilmesi, bilim kültürünün yaygınlaştırılması konusunda son derece önemli bir rol üstlenmektedir. Dünyamızda ve ülkemizde bilim merkezlerinin ve bilim merkezleri ziyaretçilerinin sayısı gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle bilim merkezleriyle ilgili kavramlara yer verilecek, ardından ülkemizdeki bilim merkezlerinin mevcut durum analizi yapılacak ve bilim merkezleri için işletme modeli önerisinde bulunulacaktır. Ülkemizde bilim merkezi sergilerinin kavramsal tasarımın yaptırılması, ürettirilmesi ve bilim merkezlerinin kurulması ve işletilmesi süreçlerinde destek verilmesi ve danışmanlık sağlanmasından sorumlu en deneyimli kurum TÜBİTAK Bilim ve Toplum Başkanlığı bünyesinde faaliyet gösteren Deneyap Teknoloji Atölyeleri ve Bilim Merkezleri Müdürlüğü'dür. Müdürlük kurulduğu günden bugüne kadar bilim merkezleriyle ilgili pek çok çalışma yapmış, proje yürütmüştür. Ülkemizde TÜBİTAK destekli olarak açılan ve faaliyet gösteren 7 bilim merkezi bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca çeşitli illerimizde TÜBİTAK desteği olmadan açılan yaklaşık 17-18 bilim merkezi bulunmaktadır. Bilim merkezlerinin sayısı gün geçtikçe artmaktadır.

Science centers have an utmost importance in making science and technology understandable and popular among society and in raising awareness in scientific and technological subjects. Therefore, the number of science centers and science centers' visitors increases day by day in the world and in our country. In this study, first, basic concepts about science centers will be explained, then the current state analysis of the science centers throughout Turkey will be carried out, and finally a science center business model will be proposed. The most experienced institution about supporting the development of conceptual design, production of science center exhibitions and giving consultancy about establishment and management of science centers in Turkey is Deneyap Technology Workshops and Science Centers Directorate, which functions under TUBITAK Science and Society Presidency. Since the establishment of the directorate, many studies have been conducted, projects have been managed, and an important database has been formed. There are 7 science centers in Turkey which are established with the support of TUBITAK. Besides these, there are about 17-18 science centers in different cities of Turkey and these are established without any support from TUBITAK.
