RISK FACTORS AFFECTING ASTHMA IN ADULTS

OBJECTIVE: Asthma is among the most frequent chronic diseases in the world. It has gradually increasingprevalence, mortality and morbidity. The aim of our study is to determine the prevalance of asthma and itsallergic symptoms of the patients applied to the Pulmonology Clinic of our hospital, to evaluate the findingsreached, and to compare with the prevalance noted from different regions. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Data was collected through face to face interviews with 1264 patients overage 18. Questions were including sociodemographical questions and questions from European CommunityRespiratory Health Survey (ECRHS).RESULTS: Sex, age, active or passive smoking habits, familial history of atopy, and home conditions weredetected as factors affecting asthma and allergic syptom prevalances.
