Sepsis gelişen olgularda pentoksifilin infüzyonunun etkisi

Çalışmamızda sepsis gelişen yoğun bakım olgularında pentoksifilin (PTX) infüzyonunun etkisini, kontrol grubuyla karşılaştırarak değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Yoğun bakım ünitesine alınan ve sepsis gelişen 22 olgu rastgele 11'er kişilik iki eşit gruba ayrıldı. Grup I (n=11)'e 1 mg.kg-1.st-1 PTX iv infüzyon olarak uygulandı. Grup II (n=11), kontrol grubu kabul edildi ve aynı volümde serum fizyolojik verildi. Uygulamaya başlamadan önce, başladıktan 24 sonra 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ve 7. günlerde alınan kan örneklerinde lökosit, nötrofil sayıları, sitokin düzeyi (interlökin-6), C-reaktif protein değerlendirildi. Grup I ve II'de lökosit, nötrofil sayılarında anlamlı bir değişiklik bulunmazken (p>0.05). Pentoxifylline in intensive care unit patients

In this study our aim was to examine the effects of pentoxifylline (PTX) in sepsis developed ICU cases. Twenty-two cases admitted to ICU were allocated randomly into two groups. Group I (n=11) was infused iv PTX 1 mg.kg-1.h-1 and Group II (n=11) received the same volume of iv isotonic. The blood samples were taken before application, 24 hrs later, and on 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7th days. Leucocyte and neutrophil counts, cytokine levels (interleucin-6), C-reactive protein levels were recorded. There were no significiant changes in leucocyte and neutrophil counts (p>0.05) but IL/ and CRP levels declined from the fırst day in Group I and II. The decrease in the 7th day was significantly high when compared with the first day in Group I (p<0.01), while it was significant in Group II (p<0.05). At the 7 th day, decrase in IL-6 and CRP of Group I were significant in comparision to Group II (p<0.01). Three cases in Group I and four cases in Group II died because of multiple organ failure. As a result, we concluded that administration of pentoxifylline might be effectice in sepsis patients.
