Evaluation of Matmematics Education in High School, Cram School And Universities by Candidates of Elementary Mathematics Teachers

The purpose of this study is to reveal candidates of mathematics teachers’views on the given mathematics education at high schools, cram schoolsand universities. This study is a descriptive research. The sample of thestudy is consisted of 43 candidates of teacher who study in first year inElementary Mathematic Education Program at Education Faculty of auniversity in Eastern Anatolia region. A questionnaire consisting of 7questions almost all open-ended was applied to collect data. The dataobtained from this study were analyzed by descriptive analysis method andexpressed as a percentage and frequency for each question. Thecandidates of teachers mentioned that mathematics education in cramschool is rote and university mathematics education is difficult because of itis more abstract and tended to prove. They also discoursed that in cramschools is given practical knowledge to pass the exam and class, isn’texplained what it means, where it is used, in university mathematiceducation is detailed, compelling and tended to prove. Candidates who thinkhigh school mathematics education is 'rote', 'inadequate' and 'superficial',high school mathematics education need create the basis for universityeducation and need to support it, for this reason they argued that the highschool education system should be fixed.
