Çeltik Beyaz Uç Nematodu (Aphelenchoides besseyi Christie)

Bitki paraziti nematodlardan çoğu genus ve türün çeltikte parazitik olduğu bilinmektedir. Fakat bunlardan sadece bazı türler verim kayıplarına sebep olmaktadır. Nematodlar bitkide mekanik zararlara ve/veya bitkinin fizyolojik yapısında bozukluklara sebep olur ve buda zayıf bitki gelişimi ve verim kaybı ile sonuçlanır. Bazı türler bütün çeltik alanlarında bulunurken bazı türlere de daha sınırlı alanlarda rastlanır. Çeltikte zararlı olan türler beslenme alışkanlıklarına göre; toprak üstü aksamda (gövde, yaprak ve çiçek salkımında) ve köklerde parazit olanlar olarak başlıca iki gruba ayrılır (Biridge J. et al., 2005).Çeltik beyaz uç nematodu (Aphelenchoides besseyi) ilk kez 1915 yılında Kakuta tarafından saptanmıştır (Van Nieuwenhuyzen, 1977). Tanımlanması ise 1942’de Christie tarafından yapılmıştır. Franklin ve Siddiqi (1972)’ye göre zararlının tür sinonimi Aphelenchoides oryzae Yokoo (1948)’dir.
