Tüberküloz menenjitli olgularımızın değerlendirilmesi

Amaç: Tüberküloz menenjit, menenjitler içerisinde mortalite ve morbiditesi en yüksek olanıdır. Takip ettiğimiz olguların prognozlarını ve etkileyen faktörleri irdelemek amacıyla bu çalışmayı yaptık. Materyal Metod: Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Çocuk Kliniğinde, son iki yılda tüberküloz menenjit tanısıyla yatırılıp tedavi edilen toplam 15 hastayı retrospektif olarak inceledik. Bulgular:Hastaların ll'i (% 73,3) kız, 4'ü (%26,7) erkek olup (E/K=0,36) yaşları 4 ay ile 14 yaş arasında (5,4 ± 4,5yaş) değişmekteydi.Yatış süreleri 1 gün ile 60 gün arasında (31 ± 16 gün) olup, sadece 3 olguda (% 20) BCG skarı mevcuttu. 11 olguda (% 73) ailede tüberküloz öyküsü saptandı.12 olgunun (% 80) PPD incelemeleri (-) idi. 5 olgu (% 33) kaybedildi, 3 olgu (% 20) takipten çıktı; 7 olgu ise sekelli olarak yaşamaktadır.

Evaluation of our patients with tuberculous meningitis

Objective: Tuberculous meningitis has the highest mortality and morbidity among all meningitis. We planned this study to evaluate the prognosis and the factors that effect the prognosis in our patients. Material and Methods: In this study we aimed to asses the 15 cases hospitalized for tuberculous meningitis in the Pediatric Clinic of Dr. Liitfi Kirdar Kartal Training and Research Hospital in the last 2 years, retrospectively. Results: Of the 15 cases; 11 (73,3 %) were female, 4 (26,7 %) were male (M/F:0,36). The ages were between 4 months and 14 years (mean: 5,4 ±4,5 years). The hospitalization time was between 1 and 60 days (mean: 31 ± 16 days). Only in 3 cases (20 %) BCG scar was found. In 11 cases (73 %) there was family history of tuberculosis; in 12 cases (80 %) PPD test was negative. Of the 15; 5 cases (33 %) died, 3 cases (20 %) didn't come to control examinations, 7 cases (47 %) had sequelae. Conclusion: Tuberculous meningitis is stil an important health problem in our country.
