The relationship of gallectin-3, estrogen and progesteron expression and FIGO staging in normal, hyperplastic and carcinomatous endometrium
The Relationship Of Galectin-3, Estrogen And Progesteron Expression And FIGO Staging In Normal, Hyperplastic And Carcinomatous Endometrium Endometrium carcinoma is the most common gynecological malignancy in developed countries. Hormone receptor expression in endometrium carcinoma is one of the prognostic factors. It is thought that galectin-3, one of the member ofbetagalactozide- binding lectin family, binds to basal membrane glycoprotein and has a role in many biological events. Galectin-3's role in tumor progression is not completely understood. In our study, we examined estrogen, progesteron, and galectin-3 expression in normal functional (n=I2), hyperplastic (with or without atypia) (n=7), carcinomatous endometrial tissues (n-25) and also examined immunohistochemically the relationship of expression with FIGO staging. Estrogen, progesteron expressionin normal cases was more meaningful statistically than the one in carcinoma cases. (p
