Saç Beyazlama ve Saç Kaybı Skorları ile Erektil Disfonksiyon Arasındaki İlişki

Amaç: Yaşlanma, insanoğlunun engel olamadığı fizyolojik bir süreçtir ve bu süreç içerisinde genellikle 50 yaş sonrası saçlarda dökülme ve beyazlama sık görülmektedir. Son zamanlarda saç beyazlaması ya da dökülmesi ile oksidatif stress arasında ilişki olduğunu gösteren çalışmalar mevcuttur. Yine ilerleyen yaşlarda özellikle oksidatif stresin rol aldığı ateroskleroza bağlı erektil disfonksiyonun (ED) da görülme sıklığının arttığı bilinen bir gerçektir. Bu çalışmada ortak etyolojiyi paylaşan bu iki klinik antiteyi derecelendirmeye yönelik skorlama sistemleri arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmak istedik.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya 50 erektil disfonksiyon hastası ve 50 sağlıklı kontrol alındı. Her iki gruptaki hastalarda hipertansiyon, diabetes mellitus, bel çevresi, kalça çevresi, sigara, peyroni varlığı, koroner arter hastalığı öyküsü, testosteron düzeyleri, LH, FSH, Prolaktin, Açlık kan şekeri ve yine tüm hastalarda İİEF-5 skorlaması yapıldı. Saç değerlendirilmesinde gri/beyaz saç ölçeği (gray/white hair scale) ve saç kaybı (hair losing) kullanıldı.Bulgular: ED grubundaki hastalarda kontrol grubuna göre diyabet, hipertansiyon, glukoz, kilo, bel çevresi değerleri anlamlı olarak yüksek çıkmıştır. Yine çalışmamızın ana konusu olan ED grubunda saç beyazlığı ve saç dökülmesi oranlarına bakıldığında da kontrol grubuna göre sonuçlar anlamlı olarak yüksek çıkmıştır.Sonuç: Üroloji polikliniğimize başka bir şikayetle gelen, erken saç beyazlaması yada dökülmesi olan hastalarda oksidatif stresin neden olabileceği ED’ yi sorgulamamız gerektiğini düşünmekteyiz.

Association between Hair Whitening and Hair Loss Scores and Erectile Dysfunction

Aim: Aging is a physiological process that can’t be prevented by human beings, and in this process, hair loss and whitening are often seen after 50 years of age.There have been recent studies showing that there is a relationship between hair whitening or losing and oxidative stress. It is also a known fact that the incidence of erectile dysfunction (ED) due to atherosclerosis, especially oxidative stress, is increasing in later ages. In this study we wanted to investigate the relationship between scoring systems for evaluating these two clinical entities that share a common etiology.Material and Methods: 50 erectile dysfunction patients and 50 healthy controls were included in the study. Patients in both groups were questioned about the presence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, Peyronie’s disease and smoking status. IEEF-5 scores, weight, waist and hip circumferences, serum levels of testosterone, LH, FSH, prolactin, albumin and fasting blood glucose of all participants were obtained. Gray / white hair scale and hair losing scale were used in hair evaluation.Results: The presence of diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, serum glucose, albumin and testosterone levels, weight and waist circumferences were significantly different in ED group compared to the controls. Gray/white hair scale and hair loss scale in the ED group were also significantly different compared to the controls.Conclusion: In our urology polyclinics, in patients with premature hair whitening or losing, we need to question about ED which may be caused by oxidative stress, even in patients with other complaits.
