Profilaktik oral magnezyum koroner bypass cerrahisi sonrası atriyal fibrilasyonu engeller mi?

Atrial fibrilasyon koroner arter bypass cerrahisinin sık görülen bir komplikasyonudur ve hastaların %20-40’ında olduğu bildirilmiştir. İntravenöz magnezyumun atriyal fibrilasyon sıklığını azalttığı gösterilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı postoperatif Atriyal fibrilasyon sıklığının azaltılma-sında oral magnezyumun etkinliğini değerlendirmektir. Ardışık toplam 73 koroner bypass hastası oral magnez-yum alan (operasyon öncesi 295,7 mg/gün, 5 gün boyunca) ve hiçbir antiaritmik ilaç almayan (kontrol grubu) olarak rastgele seçildi. Koroner bypass operasyonu sonrası postoperatif Atriyal fibrilasyon sıklığı; oral magnezyum verilen grupta %19,4 (7/36), kontrol grubunda %21,6 (8/37) olarak tespit edildi (p>0,05). Oral magnezyum uygulaması, koroner bypass operasyonu sonrası gelişen atriyal fibrilasyon görülme sıklığında belirgin bir azalmaya neden olamamıştır.

Does prophylactic oral magnesium prevent atrial fibrillation after coronary bypass surgery ?

Atrial fibrillation is a common complication of coronary artery bypass surgery reported to occur in 20–40% of patients. Intravenous magnesium have been shown to decrease the incidence of atrial fibrillation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of oral magnesium to reduce postoperative atrial fibrillation. Seventy-three consecutive coronary artery bypass patients were randomized to receive oral magnesium (295.7 mg one time daily for five days before operation) or no antiarrhythmic agents (Control group). The incidence of postoperative atrial fibrillation was 19.4% (7/36) in the magnesium group, 21.6% (8/37) in the control group (p>0,05). The incidence of atrial fibrillation after coronary by-pass surgery was not significantly reduced by the administration of oral magnesium.
