Bu çalışmada, sağlıklı koyunlarda dexamethason uygulamasının serumdemir konsantrasyonu (Fe), Total Demir Bağlama Kapasitesi (TDBK), TransferrinDoyumu (TD) ve serum bakir  konsantrasyonu (Cu) uzerine etkisi incelendiAkkaraman 14 koyun tedavi (n=7) ve kontrol (n=7) olmak üzere 2 grubaayrıldı. Uygulama öncesi nomıal değerlerin belirlenmesinden sonra 24 saat ara ile 3kez tedavi grubuna 0.1 mg/kg dexamethason, kontrol  grubuna eşdeğer miktarda serumfizyolojik i.v.  verildi Kan örnekleri ilk uygulamadan 4 saat, 1, 2, 3, 7 ve 10 gün sonratoplandı. Fe, TDBK ve Cu kolorimetrik yöntemle tayin edildi.  TD formüldenhesaplandi.Koyunlarda terapötik dozda dexamethason uygulamasnın Fe, TDBK,TD ve Cu üzerinde önemli bir etkisinin olmadığı belirlendi. Bunun da tür spesifik birreaksiyon olabileceği kanısına varıldı.

In this study, the effect of dexamethasone application on serum ironconcentration (SI), total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), transferrin saturation (TS)and serum copper concentration (Cu) in healthy sheep was examined.14 Akkaraman sheep were taken in two groups: one for treatment (n =7) andthe other for control (n=7). After the determination of pre-application values, eachanimal in treated group received 0.1 mg/kg dexamethasone and the control animalswere injected equal volumes of sterile saline intravenously for three days at 24-hourintervals. Blood samples were ftrst collected four hours after the initial treatment andthen the following 1, 2, 3, 7 and 10 days. SI, TIBC, and Cu were determined colorimetrically;TS was calculated by formula.The result was that the application of dexamethasone in therapeutic dose insheep had no signiftcant effect on SL, TIBC, TS, and Cu values, and this was possiblydue to a species-specific response.
