ANALYSIS OF EFFICIENCY IN THE MANUFACTURE OF FURNITURE WITH UNDESIRABLE OUTPUTS

According to the one of the main hypothesis of the efficiency, inputs have to be minimized and outputs have to be maximized in the production process. Nevetheless, generated undesirable outputs such as solid wastes should be reduced to the minimum to eliminate inefficiency. Data envelopment analysis literature has suggested different models for measuring efficiency in the event of undesirable outputs. In this paper, efficiency level of manufacture of furniture firms operating in Kocaeli is assessed via data envelopment analysis by considering environmental factors. Findings indicate that the economic efficiency is differentiate from environmental efficiency
