DİYARBAKIR’DA TURİSTLERE YÖNELİK KAP-KAÇ OLAYLARININ ANALİZİ

ANALYSIS OF CAP-AND-RUN INCIDENTS AGAINST TOURISTS IN DİYARBAKIR

It is conducted a field study of robbery and other crimes against tourists in Diyarbakir in one of the busy metropolises of Turkey. Tourists come to Diyarbakır for business, family visits, and sightseeing purposes while encountering incidents in the tourist areas of Sur. Visitors who experienced the event described their experiences in detail. They work in an organized way as a gang. Cap-and-run incidents cause serious concern for tourists. For this reason, tourists are afraid to come and feel uneasiness during their visit. Among the causes of the cap-and-run problem are the massive immigration of Diyarbakir (especially the Suriçi neighborhoods), poverty, disinterested parents (mainly children are involved), and insufficient security (such as cameras and lighting).
