Analysis of the Forces Causing Vertical Vibration of a Four-Cylinder Internal Combustion Engıne
On the engine block, vibrations occur in three axes during the operation. The highest vibration amplitude is measured in the vertical axis because of the motion of the piston. In this study, forces causing vibration in the vertical axis of the four-cylinder gasoline engine were investigated. For this purpose, firstly mass reduction has been done for piston, crankshaft and connection rod. Position, velocity and acceleration of piston and piston rod have been defined as the function of the angle of the crankshaft. By the obtained these data, inertia and friction forces that occur on the system has been determined. For the piston, crankshaft and connecting rod, free body diagrams were drawn respectively and dynamic forces analysis were carried out. The determined forces as a result of the analysis were investigated for the effects on engine block vibrations.
