Impact of Social Capital on Economic Growth: An Econometrics Analysis

In this study, impact of social capital (trust level and membership to labour unions) on the economic growth is investigated in the sample of twenty-eight developed and developing countries by using cross-country data in 1990 and 2000. The results indicate that there are positive relationship between social capital and economic growth. On the other hand, analyses results indicate that trust level variable which one of the indicators social capital is effectively than membership to labour unions variable on the economic growth. However, it is observed that the contribution of social capital to the economic growth is less than that of physical and human capital and is further in developed countries.
