Effects of differrent photoperiods on some biological parameters of Indian meal moth Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on fried and unfried pistachio cultivars
Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is a worldwide common pest of stored products and is the most important stored pest of dried pistachios in Iran. To determine the effects of photoperiod on developmental characteristics of Indian meal moth, including embryonic and larval development time, weight and survival time of adults and percental survive of species from egg to adult stage, the insect was reared on three pistachio cultivars (fried and unfried) under 12:12, 8:16 and 16:8 (L:D). Photoperiods and laboratory conditions of 25±1°C, 65±5% RH. The results showed that changing of photoperiod has significant effect on embryonic and larval development time, survival time of male and female of adults, weight of male and adults and percental survive of males
