Quail Egg Anaphylaxis in Alternative Treatment of Wheezy Infant
Wheezing episodes are common in young children and a cause of anxiety for parents. Parents turn to complementary and alternative therapies. There is a perception that alternative therapies are natural and harmless. It is ignored by parents when not questioned by the physician. The risk of anaphylaxis with complementary and alternative medicine is dependent on the cross reactions with allergens, the method of administration and contamination with products that could lead to allergic reactions. Here we report a case of anaphylaxis with raw quail egg in complementary and alternative treatment.
