Comparision of Some Physiological Characters of Caucasian, Central Anatolian and Erzurum Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) Genotypes in the Conditions of Erzurum

The various physiological characters of Caucasian, C. Anatolian and Erzurum honeybee (A. mellifera L.) genotypes in the conditions of Erzurum were examined in this study. The survival rates of genotypes for the wintering and production periods were found to be 81.82 % and 70.00 %, 90.00 % and 77.78 %, 100.00 % and 90.00% respectively. During the wintering period, 18.18 % and 10.00 % of colonies in Caucasian and C. Anatolian groups respectively died; but no colony from the Erzurum group was lost. During the wintering period, the average food consumption of Caucasian, C. Anatolian and Erzurum groups was calculated to be 4.11±0.25, 4.26±0.28 and 5.28±0.22 kg/colony respectively; but the average population decreases in those groups were 47.49±1.90 %, 32.63±2.91 % and 32.12±1.82 % respectively. The average number of frame of bees of the the colonies in different groups (Caucasian, C. Anatolian and Erzurum) were found to be 15.62±1.04, 17.08±1.24 and 18.49±1.25; the average number of flying bees per minute per colony were found to be 72.86±13.83, 69.71±5.30 and 94.29±15.63 and the average honey yields were found to be 30.62±3.22, 32.63±5.17 and 35.41±5.36 kg/colony respectively.
