CROP ASSORTMENT INDEX: A TOOL FOR MEASURING COMPOSITE PERFORMANCE OF DIFFERENT FENUGREEK GENOTYPES

CROP ASSORTMENT INDEX: A TOOL FOR MEASURING COMPOSITE PERFORMANCE OF DIFFERENT FENUGREEK GENOTYPES

Fenugreek is widely distributed throughout the world. The results obtained in the present investigation revealed presence of considerable amount of genetic variability and mean values for all the characters showed wide range of variability for all the traits studied. The maximum seed yield plant-1 was recorded in genotype UM-116 while, genotypes UM-122 and ACC-006 recorded the maximum vegetative (leaf) yield plant-1 . The highest CAI was recorded in genotype UM-116 which was closely followed by genotypes NDM-20 and NDM-25 signifying that a number of other characters of these genotypes are superior over the others and are directly related towards greater yield. The genotypes UM-116, UM-117, NDM-2, NDM-20 were found most superior in terms of overall performance of phenological characters while, ACC-012, HM-278, RM-198, ACC-013 genotypes found most suitable qualitative genotypes. Overall it was found that genotypes UM-116, NDM-20, NDM-25, PEB and RM-198 were most suitable for production.
