Grid-connected quasi-z-source inverter with battery

Grid-connected inverters are now increasingly used in distributed microgrid and smart-grid applications.The advantages of a quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI), like single-stage operation, lower component rating, continuousinput current, and common DC rail, led to an investigation of this converter for grid-connected applications. Thispaper presents a grid-connected QZSI with both AC and DC side controls. A new battery-charging configuration is alsosuggested across the capacitor through which the DC side control loop is regulated. Fast dynamic response and reducedharmonics are demonstrated through simulation and experimental results.
