Araştırma, çay üretimindeki girdi ve maliyet tespiti amacı ile Rize - Çayeli üretim alanında yapılmıştır. Araştırma için gerekli olan veriler işletmelere uygulanan anketlerle toplanmıştır. 1992 yılı hasat sonu gözönünde tutularak 20 Aralık 1992 - 5 Ocak 1993 tarihleri arasında araştırma bölgesinde anketlerle bilgi toplanmıştır.
