Bu çalışmada, Arıcak’ın kaleme aldığı “Siber Âlemin Avatar Çocukları: İnternet ve Gençlik İlişkisinin Bugünü ve Geleceği” adlı kitabın incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Böylelikle, bu çalışma ile daha çok kişinin bu kitaptan haberdar olması ile alana katkı yapılması hedeflenmektedir. Bu incelenme sistematik olarak yapılmaya çalışılarak okuyucuya kitap içeriği ile ilgili kuramsal olarak bütünleştirilmiş bilgi verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Arıcak, kitabın bölümlerinde; “internet çağının” ne olduğuna, bu çağı diğer çağlardan farklı kılan özelliklerine, internet ile birey, aile ve eğitim ilişkisine, internetin problemli ve kötü kullanımına değinmektedir. Sonsöz olarak da kitapta gençlerin bedeni fiziksel geçeklikte ruhu siber uzayda olan avatarlara dönüşmesine yönelik korkularını okuyucuya aktarmaktadır. Yazar, bu kitap ile internetin pek çok getirisinin olmasıyla beraber gençlerde neleri götürdüğünü, internetin problemli kullanımı nasıl azaltılabileceğini ve gençlerin internetin kötü etkisinden nasıl korunabileceğini okuyucuya sorgulatmaktadır. Bu kitap ile internetin bu genç kuşağa etkisi daha fazla ve daha farklı olduğunu, bu kuşak için daha iyi ne yapılabileceğini gösterilmektedir. Elbet bu bağlamda bu tür çalışılmaların daha çok artması ve alana kazandırılması gerekmektedir.

In this study, it is aimed to examine the book called "Avatar Children of the Cyber Realm: The Present and Future of the Internet and Youth Relationship" written by Arıcak. Thus, with this study, it is aimed to contribute to the field by making more people aware of this book. By trying to make this examination systematically, it has been tried to give theoretically integrated information about the content of the book to the reader. Arıcak, in the chapters of the book; It touches on what the “internet age” is, the features that make this age different from other ages, the relationship between the internet and the individual, family and education, and the problematic and misuse of the internet. As an epilogue, the book conveys to the reader the fears of young people that their bodies will turn into avatars whose bodies are in physical reality and whose souls are in cyberspace. With this book, the author makes the reader question what the internet brings to young people, how the problematic use of the internet can be reduced and how the young people can be protected from the bad effects of the internet, although it has many benefits. This book shows that the impact of the internet on this younger generation is greater and different, and what can be done better for this generation. Of course, in this context, such studies should be increased and brought to the field.
