DETERMINATION OF ELDERLY WOMEN'S VIEWS ON DIVORCE: A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

This research was carried out to determine the thoughts of individuals, who are aged 65 and over, on divorce. It's a descriptive type of research. The data were collected from the study group with a questionnaire consisting of semi-structured questions in addition to the demographic questions prepared by the researchers. The sample consisted of eight 65-year-old women living in the Central district of Giresun province. Descriptive and content analysis methods were used for qualitative data analysis. Among the elderly women, who participated in the survey, were those who indicated the financial difficulties (4 elderly) as the leading reason for divorce, those who affirmed the divorce of the couples who cannot get along well (5 elderly), those who indicated that the biggest problem in the divorce process was the children's situation (6 elderly) and those who indicated that the reason for the increase in divorce in our country is the financial issues (4 elderly).
