Epilepsy, sports and psychosocial life

Epilepsy is a common disease affecting 2% of the population. The uncertain nature of epilepsy gives rise to a variety of psychosocial difficulties in subjects with epilepsy. Individuals with epilepsy show higher levels of anxiety and depression than the general population. Patients with epilepsy also become physically less active than the general population. Exercise is known to be useful for epileptic patients. If certain precautions are taken most of the patients with epilepsy can participate in sports activities.
