Bu çalışmanın amacı Cumhuriyet'in ilanıyla birlikte uygulanmaya çalışılan Batılılaşma/Modernleşme projesinin fantastikle/fantaziyle kurduğu ilişkiyi Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in 1935'te basılan Gökyüzü adlı romanı üzerinden incelemektir. Pozitivist-akılcı bir dünya görüşünü benimseyen ve bu görüşü vatandaşlarına yaymaya ve kabul ettirmeye çalışan Cumhuriyet döneminin yeni kurulan laik yönetiminin "positivist-otoriter" tavrı, fantastik durum ve olayları hurafe olarak değerlendirerek aklın kavrayamayacağı her türlü alternatif gerçekliği reddeder. Dönemin resmi söylemiyle barışık romancıları da aynı tavrı romanlarında sürdürerek Türk edebiyatında alternatif, başka gerçeklikleri anlatan fantastik roman türünü örneklemezler. Fantastiği, Gökyüzü'nde olduğu gibi sadece pozitivist-akılcı bir dünyanın varlığını kanıtlamak amacıyla işlevsel açıdan tercih ederler. İşte bu çalışma, bu tespiti Gökyüzü üzerinden tartışmayı amaçlamaktadır

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between the Westernization/ Modernization project starting with the declaration of the Republic and fantastic/fantasy through Gökyüzü written by Reşat Nuri Güntekin in 1935. In the Republic period, the new secular government tries to impose to its citizens its own positivist/rationalist world view. This "pozitivist-otoriteryanist" tendency evaluates fantastic situations and events as superstition and denies any other alternative realities beyond the reason. The authors of that period as the supporters of this discourse also reflects the same tendency in their novels and do not write novels in fantastic genre which describes other, alternative realities. They use fantastic, as in Göküyüzü, due to its function; in order to prove the existence of positivist-rationalist world. So, this study has the aim to discuss this through Gökyüzü
