The Role of Telomeres in Aging and Cancer Relationships

Telomeres have a major role in aging and cancer relationships. In cancer treatment and diagnosis, in addition to the traditional methods, the measurement of telomerase activity would be used as specific markers. The studies conducted on telomerase enzymes showed that they would be used effectively in the treatment of cancer. The role of telomeres in aging has also been the focus of many researches. It has been confirmed that telomere shortening plays universal role in shortening of the life of the human cells. Recent applications in the usage of teleomeres as a retardant in aging and also in cancer treatment are happened to be a promising development in this area.
