Thymic bleeding after blunt chest trauma in a child

İzole veya multitravma ile meydana gelen pediatrikgöğüs travması hafif ila yaşamı tehdit eden çeşitliyaralanmalara neden olabilir. Sanayileşmiş ülkelerdetravma bir yaş üstü çocuklarda birinci mortalitenedenidir. Timus ve timik kan damarlarında yaralanmanadir olgularda tanımlanmıştır. Dokuz yaşında birerkek hasta trafik kazası sonrası acil servise başvurdu.Hasta yaşamı tehdit eden durum nedeni ile pediatrikcerrahi yoğun bakım ünitesinde takip edildi. Hastadakünt göğüs travmasına bağlı mediastinal genişlemevardı. Kontrastlı toraks bilgisayarlı tomografisindemediastinal hematom saptandı. Ameliyatta timikkanama tanısı konuldu.

Trauma to the pediatric chest, occurring in isolation or withpolytrauma, may result in a variety of injuries from minorto life-threatening. Trauma is the first cause of mortalityin children over the age of one in industrialized countries.Injury to the thymus and thymic blood vessels is describedin rare cases. A nine-year-old male patient was admittedto the emergency department after a traffic accident. Thepatient was followed up in the pediatric surgery intensivecare unit due to the life-threatening condition. Patienthad mediastinal widening due to blunt chest trauma.Contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography revealedmediastinal hematoma. A diagnosis of thymic bleedingwas established in the operation.
