Dünya’da farklı düzeylerde verilen turist rehberliği eğitimi, Türkiye’de eğitim çeşitliliği açısından ilginç ve eşsiz bir örnektir. Türkiye’de kurs, ön lisans, lisans ve yüksek lisans olmak üzere dört farklı seviyede rehber yetiştirilmektedir. Bu durum turizm akademisinin ilgisini çekmiş, konu hakkında yakın zamanlarda iki ayrı araştırma yapılmıştır. Söz konusu araştırmaların sınırlı sayıda ülke hakkında yapılmış olması, daha geniş bir örneklemin kullanıldığı üçüncü bir araştırmanın yapılmasını gerektirmiştir. Mevcut araştırma, turist rehberliği eğitiminin verildiği seviye ile ülkelerin gelişmişlik düzeyleri arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığı sorusuna cevap aramaktadır. Bu amaçla örneklem olarak G-20 ülkeleri seçilmiş ve rehberlik eğitiminin hangi seviyede verildiği, doküman analizi tekniği ile araştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları G-20 ülkeleri içinde turist rehberliği eğitiminin büyük ölçüde kurs seviyesinde verildiğini göstermiştir. Bu bulgu, ülkelerin gelişmişlik düzeyi ile rehberlik eğitimi arasında bir ilişki olmadığına işaret etmektedir.

Tour guidance education which is given at different levels in world-wide, is an interesting and unique example of educational diversity in Turkey. Guides are being trained with four different levels such as courses, associate’s degree, bachelor and Phd in Turkey. This case has attracted the attention of the tourism academies and two different studies have been conducted on the subject recently. The fact that these studies were conducted on a limited number of countries caused the need of the conducting of a third study using a larger sample. This study seeks an answer to the question of whether there is a relationship between the level of tourist guidance education and the development levels of countries. Because of this purpose; G-20 countries were selected as a sample and the level of guidance training was investigated by using document analysis technique. The results of the research showed that; within the most of the G-20 countries, tourist guidance training is given at the course level. This finding indicates that there is no relationship between the development level of countries and guidance education.
