A case of ciprofloxacin tablet aspiration

Yabancı cisim aspirasyonları çocuklarda erişkinlere göre daha sık ortaya çıkar ve hayatı tehdit eden komplikasyonlara sebep olabilir. Erişkinlerde yabancı cisim aspirasyonuna bağlı akut solunum yetmezliği nadir görülen bir durumdur. Biz burada solunum yetmezliği ile acil servise başvuran 76 yaşındaki bir kadın hastayı sunduk. Çekilen akciğer grafisinde sol total kollaps görüldü. Yapılan bronkoskopide siprofloksasin tablet gözlendi ve çıkarıldı. Bildiğimiz kadarıyla bu ilk siprofloksasin tablet aspirasyonu olgusudur.

Foreign body aspirations occur among children more than adults and can cause life threatening complications. Acute respiratory failure due to foreign body aspiration in adults is a rare condition. We reported a 76-years-old woman who admitted to the emergency room with respiratory failure. The chest X-ray showed total collapse of the left lung. A ciprofloxacin tablet was observed and extracted during the bronchoscopy. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of a ciprofloxacin tablet aspiration.
