The use of sleep electroencephalography in sleep laboratories and neurological practice

Sleep electroencephalography (EEG) is an important activation method for the identification of epileptiform discharges. EEG is also a useful tool in scoring sleep stages, and in showing the relationship between sleep disorders and sleep stages. This article reviews application of sleep EEG in sleep laboratories and addresses its role as an activation method in showing epileptiform discharges in neurological practice.
