TEKSTiL MATERYALLERiNDE MEYDANA GELEN lSI VE KÜTLE TRANSFERi MEKANiZMALARININ

EFFECTS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER MECHANISMS IN TEXTILE MATERIALS ON CLOTHING THERMAL COMFORT

Thelmal comfort, which can be defined as 'a pleasant state of physiological, psychological and physical hanl10ny between human body and its environment' is mainly controlled by the sensations of coldness and dampness arising from skin contact with the garment system. These sensations are originated from heat and mass transfer mechanisms occming between garment system-environment, between clothing layers and within fabric structure. In order to investigate the thelmal comfort performances of fabrics and galment systems, besides physiological changes in human body, heat and mass transfer mechanisms ensuring these changes should also be analyzed. The aim of this paper is to examine some ofthe theoretical and experimental studies about heat and mass transfer mechanisms occuring in fabric and garment systems and detemline the direction of these studies.
