A survey was conducted by Cukurova Agricultural Research Institute to detennine the general situation of cotton cultivation, the expectation and the problems of textile sector and to contribute to the researches on cotton fibre tecnological traits. The capasity, production tecnology, prefered fibre traits of cotton spinning industry taken part in the region were investigated and the problems of processing and the solving recommendations of the sector were detennined. As a result, it is indicated that the most important problem of cotton cultivated in Turkey is contamination. However the fibre length and the fibre strength of the cultivated cottons is suitable for the textile sector mostly it is detennined that cotton varieties with finer fiber are needed.In addition it is indicated that using single bale testing as a classification system in standardization is very important for solving the problems of cotton textile industry in Turkey.
