Electromagnetic shielding and conductivity properties of polyaniline and polypyrrole coated cotton fabric

In the study, the conductivity, dielectric and electromagnetic properties of cotton fabrics coated with polyaniline and polypyrrole were characterized and compared. For the aims, anilin and pyrrole were used as monomer and in-situ polymerization on cotton fabric by chemical oxidative polymerization was carried out. The cotton fabric coated conductive polymers achieved electrical conductivity of 10-2 S/cm. Average electromagnetic shielding efficiency and average absorption values of polyaniline were respectively 3.8 dB and 48% and these values of polypyrrole were respectively 6 dB and 50 %. Consequently, we did not observed the significant difference between the values of conductivity, dielectric parameters and electromagnetic parameters of polyaniline and polypyrrole coated fabrics.
