Smart structures have attracted more and more attention in recent years. The concept of "smart materials" is de fined as the systems that can sense and react to the environmental conditions or stimuli by the developments in the fi eld of computer, electronicsand textiles. It has been able to integrate electronic components with textile structures to create ve ry smart structures. In this study.the concept of "sman tex tile materials" is investigated. The major applicati ons that import electrical conductivity properties to textiles are summarized and some researches about smart garments with electronic functi ons are reviewed.
