Effects of locked and spinning wheels on the vehicle stopping distance and stability

It is known that locked and spinning wheels of a vehicle during braking and acceleration have undesirable effects. Especially in case of panic braking in wet and slippery roads, the vehicle may be out of control. ABS (Antilock Braking System) and its combination of ASR (Automatic Spin Regulation) has been used for safety stopping and stability in passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles. Researches showed that the considerable differences between the vehicles with and without ABS/ASR systems in related to the stopping distance and stability.
