Gelişen İletişim Teknolojilerinin Kentsel Yaşam ve Kamusal Mekânlar Üzerindeki Yansımaları

Yeni iletişim sistemleri 2000'li yılların başından itibaren toplumun her kesimini etkisi altına almıştır. Alternatif bir dünyada yeni iletişim biçimlerine uyum sağlayan bireylerin özel mekânlara bağımlılığı giderek artmaktadır. Bu süreçte iletişim teknolojilerinin gelişimi kamusal mekânlara duyulan rasyonel ihtiyaçları azaltarak, insanları doğasına uygun olan “fiziksel etkileşime dayalı” yaşam biçiminden uzaklaştırmaktadır. Özellikle sağlıksız kentlerde büyüyen bilgi toplumuna yeterli hizmeti veremeyen kentsel kamusal mekânlar, sanal dünyanın çekiciliği karşısında anlamını kaybetmektedir. Değişmekte olan sosyal yaşam ile birlikte özel mekânlar arasında artan hareketlilik kamusal mekânların niteliğini, algılanma düzeyini, kullanım biçimini etkilemektedir. Bu makalede yeni gelişen iletişim biçimlerinin günümüzdeki yeri ve sosyal yaşamdaki etkileri açıklanarak, kentsel kamusal mekânlar üzerindeki dolaylı etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. İletişim teknolojileri günümüzde her ne kadar özel mekânlara ve donanımlara bağımlı hareket biçimini ortaya koysa da gelecekte mekândan bağımsızlığı vadetmektedir. Günümüzdeki durum geleceğin mekânsal bağımsızlığına kamusal, değerlerini yitirmiş bir toplumun taşınması riskini barındırmaktadır. Bu nedenle kentsel kamusal mekânların değişen ihtiyaçlara uygunluğu için yeni iletişim ve etkileşim biçimlerinin kamusal mekânlar üzerindeki dolaylı etkilerinin ortaya konması önem taşı- maktadır.

Reflections Of Developing Communication Technologies On Urban Life And Urban Public Spaces

New communication systems has influenced all sections of society since the early 2000s. The dependence of the individuals on private spaces is increasing as they adapt themselves to new modes of communication. The needs fulfilled in public spaces are reduced and people became alienated to a way of life based on physical interaction which is convenient for the human nature by the development of communication technologies. Especially urban public spaces became meaningless encountering the attractiveness of virtual world. Changing social life and increasing mobility between private spaces are influencing the quality, level of perception and the way of using the public spaces. The objective of this article is to explain the present position of communication technologies and their direct affects on social life, and then to evaluate indirect effects on urban public spaces. Communication technologies considers the way of mobilization depending on private spaces and appliances nowadays. But they promise independence from the space in the future. Present conditions contain a risk of transferring the society that lost the public values towards the spatial independence of future. For this reason, it is important to reveal the indirect effects of new mode of interaction and communication technologies on public spaces to make public spaces suitable for changing needs.
