Osmanlı Devleti’nin son yüzyılında yıkımını engellemek için birçok yol denenmiş, bu yollar içeriklerine göre bir fikir hareketi olarak adlandırılmıştır. Osmanlıcılık, İslamcılık ve Türkçülük bu akımlardan bir kaçıdır. Temelinde bütünlüğü korumak olan bu akımlar sadece devlet ricali tarafından değil aydınların sunduğu fikri alt yapılar ile de desteklenmiştir. Dolayısıyla bu dönemde kaleme alınan bir çok eserde hâkim olan düşünsel etki göze çarpmıştır. Manastırlı Mehmet Tevfik Bey’in eseri Manastır Vilayetinin Tarihçesi bu eserlerden sadece bir tanesidir. Yazarın Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün Manastır Askeri İdadisi’nde tarih öğretmeni de olması, hem onun tarih bilincinin oluşmasındaki etkisi hem de eserin muhtevasının o dönemde ortaya çıkan Türkçülük akımın etkisini yansıtır muhtevası incelenmeye değer bir noktadır.

Tried many ways to prevent the destruction of the Ottoman Empire in İts last century. According to the contents of these ways is called the movement of an idea. Ottomanism, Islamism, and Turkism a few of these trends. On the basis of these movements is to preserve the integrity of Ottoman, not only by state dignitaries,also with by intellectuals presented the idea supported by sub-structures. So many works of this period, which was written became prominent in the dominant intellectual influence. Manastır Vilayetinin Tarihçesi which is written by Mehmet Tevfik Bey, only one of these works. The author is history teacher Of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the Manastır Military High Scholl and its effect on the formation of historical consciousness as well as the contents of the work occurring during that period reflect the impact of the current content of Turkism is a point worthy of study.
