Mihai Maxim, a worldrenowned Romanian Professor of Turkish Studies, studied at the Universities of Iași, Baku and Moscow (1961-1968), then he graduated magna cum laude from the Department of Turkish History, the Institute of Oriental Studies, and earned a doctor's degree in History, in 1976, with the great professors Mihai Berza (Bucharest) and Halil İnalcık (Ankara).
