INVESTIGATION OF THE CHANGES IN HRV IN THE IMMEDIATE 48 HOURS FOLLOWING A 1 HOUR RUNNING EXERCISE IN TRAINED ADULTS

The purpose of this study is to investigate the HRV in trained people during the first 48 hours after a 1 hour running. Eight healthy males voluntarily participated in this study. Each subject ran for 1 hour at 70% VO2max. HRV measurements took 5 min for each person and those were applied before (Be) and after 30 minutes (30min), 24 hours (24h), 48 hours (48h) following a 1 hour-running. According to the test results; HRV at post-30 min was found significantly higher than the others and LF/HF higher than Be and post- 24 h either. For SDNN, TP and HF; results at post-30 min were significantly lower than the others. SDSD and RMSSD results were significantly lower at post-30 min than the ones at post-24 h and post-48 h. For HFnu results, it was found that the result at post-30 min was significantly lower than Be, for LF results at post-30 min was significantly lower than post-24 h and LFnu was found significantly higher at post-30 min than the values in resting period. In conclusion, the rise in HR and LF/HF and the decline in SDNN, SDSD, RMSSD, TP, HF, HFnu and LF were the indicators of the sympathetic system activity which is still active 30 min after the running. Another result of this study is that the effects of an intense physical activity on heart return to normal in 24 hours, so it means the heart recovers in that period
