Yazılı Kaynaklar Işığında Parion'da Tapınım Gören Kültler

Günümüzde Çanakkale ili, Biga ilçesi Kemer köyü sınırları içerisinde yer alan Parion antik kenti, Ege dünyasını Karadeniz’e bağlayan stratejik bir konumda yer alması ve korunaklı bir limana sahip olması nedeni ile önemli bir ticaret merkezi haline gelmiştir. Böylece kent, hem komşu hem de deniz aşırı bölgeler ile sürekli ticari ilişkiler içerisinde bulunarak denizcilerin ve tüccarların uğrak yeri olmuştur. Bu durumun sonucunda Parion halkı, farklı kültürlerle tanışmış ve bu kültürlerin inanç sistemlerinden etkilenerek kendi ihtiyaçlarına cevap veren İsis-Serapis ve Eros gibi tanrıça ve tanrıları benimseyip kendi tanrılar dünyasına dahil etmişlerdir. Ayrıca geçim kaynağı balıkçılık ve özellikle bağcılık olmak üzere tarıma dayalı olan kentte, balık avının verimli geçmesi, ürünlerin bol ve bereketli olması için tüccarların, denizcilerin, balıkçıların koruyucu tanrısı olan bolluk ve bereket getiren Priapos gibi yerel tanrılara da ibadet etmeye devam etmişlerdir. Bununla birlikte, ilk Miletos kolonisi olarak kurulan Parion’da, ana kent Miletos’ta görülen Olympos tanrılarından Apollon ve Artemis tapınımı varlığını sürdürürken Anadolu’nun Roma hakimiyetine geçmesiyle birlikte tüm Anadolu’da olduğu gibi, MÖ 1. yüzyılda Roma kolonisi haline getirilen Parion’da Roma imparator kültleri de kurulmuştur. Bu çalışmada, yazılı kaynaklar ışığında Parion kentinde tapınım gören tanrı ve tanrıçaların belirlenmesi ve bununla bağlantılı olarak bu tanrı ve tanrıçalara ait olan kültlerin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır.

CULTS WORSHIPED IN PARION IN THE LIGHT OF WRITTEN SOURCES

Today, the ancient city of Parion, located within the borders of Kemer village in the Biga district of Çanakkale province, has become an important trade center due to its strategic location connecting the Aegean world to the Black Sea and having a sheltered port. Thus, the city has become a frequent destination for seafarers and merchants by having continuous commercial relations with both neighbouring and overseas regions. As a result of this situation, Parion people encountered with different cultures, were influenced by them, and adopted the goddesses and gods such as Isis-Serapis and Eros, who responded to their needs, and included them into their own world of gods. Additionally, in the city, whose livelihood is based on agriculture, especially viticulture, Parion people continued to worship local gods such as Priapos, who were the source of abundance and fertility, the protector god of merchants, sailors and fishermen, in order for the fishing to be efficient and the products to be abundant and fertile. Besides, while the Olympus gods Apollo and Artemis, seen in the main city Miletos, continued to exist in in Parion, established as the first Miletus colony and transformed into a Roman colony in the 1st century BC as all Anatolia with the Roman domination, Roman emperor cults were also adopted. In this study, it is aimed to determine the gods and goddesses worshiped in the city of Parion in the light of written sources and to reveal the cults belonging to these gods and goddesses
