M.Ö. 1500 yıllarında Kibro-Minoan adı verilen yazının Kıbrıs coğrafyasında ortayaçıkmasıyla birlikte Ada, tarihöncesi çağlardan tarihî çağlara adımını atmıştır. Bu özel süreç, Kıbrıs prehistoryası taksimatı içinde müstesna bir yere sahip olan Geç Bronz Dönemi = Geç Kıbrıs Dönemi (M.Ö. 1600-1050)’nde ortaya çıkmıştır. Söz konusu dönemde beliren yerel ve bölgesel dinamiklerin etkisi Ada’da yazının ortaya çıkışı için nesnel bir zemin oluşturmuştur. Oluşan bu nesnel zemin de Ada’nın tarihî çağlara girişinde itici bir güç olmuştur. Bu makale, Ada’nın tarihî dönemlere geçişindeki koşulları gözardı etmeden Ada geçmişi içinde yazının ortaya çıkışı, gelişimi ve çeşitlerini, Demir Çağı (M.Ö. 1050-325)’nı da dikkate alaraktanıtmaya çalışacaktır.

After the emergence of a script called Cypro-Minoan in the geography of Cyprus in 1500’s BC, the Island stepped from pre-historical ages into historical ages. This exclusive process took stage in Late Bronze Period=Late Cyprus Period (1600-1050 BC), which has an exceptional place in the classification of Cyprus pre-history. Effects of local and regional dynamics appeared in this period provided an objective stage in the Island for the emergence of a script. This objective stage became a driving force for the Island to enter the historical ages. Without disregarding the factors in Island’s passage to the historical ages, this paper aims at introducing the emergence of writing, its evolution and kinds in the history of the Island, including the Iron Age (1050-325 BC).
