D. H. Stewart, 1879 yılında Konya’da konsolosluk yapmak üzere İngilizHükümeti tarafından görevlendirilmiş ve bu görevi 1882 yılına kadar devam etmiştir.Stewart’ın Konya’ya konsolos olarak görevlendirilmesinin sebebi, kendisiyle beraberAnadolu’ya gelen konsolosların isimleri, Stewart’ın konsolosluğu esnasında dolaştığımahaller ve buralara dair raporları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Çalışmanın anakonusu ise Stewart’ın konsolosluğu hakkında genel bilgiler verdikten sonra, onun 23Eylül 1880’de Konya’daki adli işleyiş ve bozukluklara dair yazdığı genel bir raporuortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca Osmanlı vilayetlerinde konuşlanmış ve Osmanlı’daki adliişleyişe dair rapor yazan İngiliz konsolosların listesi de verilmiştir.

This paper is to do research on the consulate of D. H. Stewart appointed by the British government to the province of Konya between 1879 and 1882. It also focuses on the reasons both for Stewart and other British consuls appointed to the various provinces of the Ottoman Empire after the Treaty of Berlin 1878 together with their names and dates of their arrival to the assigned consular areas. It gives information on Stewart’s trips to the other areas and his observations on the deficiencies and maladministrations there. Having given these basic informations on the consulate of Stewart, it lists the names of consuls who had written reports on the administration of justice with thier dates and consular areas. Finally, it is concentrated in detail on the report of Stewart concerning the administration of justice in Konya province dated from 23 September, 1880.
