Selçuk Üniversitesinde Öğrenim Gören Bedensel Engelli ve Görme Engelli Öğrencilerin Karşılaştıkları Sorunlar ve Çözümüne Yönelik Çağdaş Öneriler

Ülkemizde nicel ve nitel yönden hızla gelişen üniversitelerimizin beklendik düzeyde engelli öğrencilere yönelik destek, hizmetlerinin onların ihtiyaç duyduğu şekilde yapılması ve dolayısıyla onların ihtiyaçlarının en iyi düzeyde karşılanabilmiş olmasına karşın engelli öğrencilerin engelin vermiş olduğu sınırlılıklardan dolayı ortaya çıkan farklı ihtiyaçlarının beklendik düzeyde karşılanamadığı gözlenmektedir. Yükseköğretimdeki engelli öğrencilere üniversite yönetimi tarafından verilen desteğe rağmen engelli öğrencilerin engel kategorilerine göre ne tür bir hizmet aldığı veya alacağı da yasal düzenlemelerde çok açık değildir. Bu bağlamda Selçuk Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören engelli öğrencilerin de ihtiyaçları karşılanmaya çalışılmasına rağmen, onların ihtiyaçlarının beklendik düzeyde gerçekleşmediği gözlenmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu araştırmanın amacı, Selçuk Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören engelli öğrencilerin karşılaştığı akademik ve psiko-sosyal sorunları ortaya çıkarmak, bu sorunların çözümüne yönelik çağdaş öneriler geliştirmek ve bu alanda araştırma yapacaklara da ışık tutmaktır. Bu araştırmada Nitel Araştırma Yöntemlerinden Görüşme Yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada veri toplamak için araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen 'Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu' kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın örneklemi ise, Selçuk Üniversitesinin farklı Fakülte ve Yüksekokullarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerden Yansız Atama Yöntemi ile seçilen 10 bedensel ve 10 görme engelli öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Görüşmeler teyp kaydediciler tarafından kaydedilerek her bir görüşmenin transcriptleri yapılmış ve veriler Betimsel Analiz yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre, bedensel ve görme engelli öğrencilerin ihtiyaçları en iyi şekilde karşılanmaya çalışılmasına karşın henüz beklenen seviyede gerçekleşmemiştir.

Although the universities in Turkey challenge with meeting the needs of students with handicaps in the best way it is still observed that the universities in Turkey cannot meet the handicapped students' differentiated needs in the expected level because of their restrictions due to their disabilities. However, the students in Turkish universities are supported for their needs according to the .Higher Education Regulations and Legislation, the detailed and clear information in the items are not defined clearly about what kind of support they receive in terms of their handicaps / disability conditions or categories. In this context, although the students who are enrolled in Selçuk University are supported in terms of their needs in accordance with their handicaps, it is still not at satisfactory level that their needs are met. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the students' academic and psycho-social problems that they face to define contemporary implications for practice, and to light other researchers doing research on these issues. In the study, the interview technique with which the researcher developed 'semi-structured interview form' is used to collect the data. In the study, sample consists of twenty students (10 physically handicapped and 10 visually handicapped students) selected from different faculties and colleges of Selçuk University in accordance with the random sampling technique. The data collected with the interviews are recorded and transcribed then, analysed in accordance with the descriptive data analysis technique. According to the findings, although the needs of students with physically and visually handicaps in Selçuk University have been tried to meet in the best way the struggles have not been realised in the expected level yet.
