Konya içme suyunda trihalometanlar

Su yeryüzünde, yeraltında ve atmosferde dolaşımı sırasında bünyesine pek çok maddeyi çözerek almaktadır. Hem estetik hem de sağlık açısından zararlı olan bu maddelerin başında organik madde, renk, bulanıklık, koku ve tat veren unsurlar ile nitrat ve mikrobik canlılar gelir. Bilindiği gibi yüzeysel sularda bulunan doğal organik maddeler, dezenfeksiyonda kullanılan klor ile reaksiyona girmekte ve trihalometanlar (THM) gibi toksik klorlu yan ürünler oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Konya içme Suyu Arıtma Tesisi'nde THM oluşumu gözlenmiştir. Tesiste ve şebekede yapılan,ölçümler sonunda elde edilen değerlerin, Birleşik Amerika Çevre Koruma Örgütü (USEPA) tarafından belirlenen ve maksimum değer olan $80\mu g/l$ 'yi aşmadığı görülmüştür.

Trihalomethanes in Konya drinking water

During its cycle, water takes up impurities by suspending or dissolving various matters. Some of these matters, including colour, turbidity, organic and humic substances, nitrates and icroorganisms, might deteriorate water quality esthetically or hygienically. It is known that trihalomethanes (THM) are toxic and carcinogenic to human being. In this study the formation of THM were investigated in Konya drinking water treatment plant and water distribution network. As a result of this investigation, it was observed that the THMs formed in the treatment plant and in the distribution network were below the maximum concentration suggested by United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).
