Organizations worldwide are increasingly shifting from management by results to management by processes. Process based management has numerous benefits. Academics and practitioners agree that management by processes- is only possible with sound understanding of organizational processes. A review of these studies indicated that although process understanding is frequently mentioned and taken for granted as a result of process analysis, there is lack of comprehensive approach to it. This article intended to close this gap by identifying the factors that may influence process understanding. The factors were identified through a review of relevant literature and classified intotwo: process elements and process attributes. Then, each of these factors was explained.
